The Criminal Investigative Division (CID) operates within the guidelines according to the Mississippi Code of 1972 annotated to actuate any reported incident, and its members specialize in the ability to differentiate between what is actual, circumstantial, or unreal to gain conclusive status. CID consists of a chief investigator, a sergeant, criminal detectives, and narcotics detectives.
Being able to solve a case is not an easy task. Members of CID have standards amongst themselves and a high-rate of solvability. Relations with other members of the RPD, citizens in the community, and the District Attorney’s Office are crucial and impact conclusiveness. The CID’s devotion to Richland Policy and Procedures, citizen compliance, District Attorney Guidelines, and being adherent to Mississippi State Law, is the standard to which its members conduct and manage themselves. Once a crime is reported and investigated, depending upon evidentiary status, the case is reviewed, processed, and formalized for presentation at the District Attorney’s Office.
