Richland, Mississippi began as a small railroad and agricultural community in Rankin County and has grown into a thriving City preserving its strong sense of hometown identity. The City's history is closely tied to the development of transportation, commerce, and industry in central Mississippi, helping shape the City of Richland into an important part of the Jackson metropolitan area.

Over the years, Richland has evolved from just being rural crossroads into a vibrant community with established neighborhoods, locally owned businesses, quality schools, parks, and public services that enrich the lives of residents and families in the community. While the City continues to embrace growth and new opportunities, Richland remains grounded in the values that have defined it for generations—community pride, hard work, faith, and a commitment to public service.
